Obituary for Marlys A. Wiesner

Marlys A. Wiesner, age 82, of Clear Lake, SD passed away Thursday, June 6, 2019 at the Sanford Clear Lake Medical Center. Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Thursday, June 13, 2019 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Clear Lake, SD. Burial will be in the Highland Lutheran Cemetery, Brandt, SD. Visitation will be Thursday one hour prior to the service at the church.

Marlys Ann Wiesner was born December 13, 1936 on a farm near Brandt, SD to Selmer and Ida (Peterson) Holen and was raised and later adopted by Carl and Delia Wohler. She was raised in Brandt and then Clear Lake where she graduated high school in 1954.

Marlys married her high school sweetheart Roger Wiesner on February 9, 1957 and were married for 62 years. The couple made their home on the farm near Clear Lake. Marlys enjoyed helping Roger with the farm while raising their children. She passed away on Thursday, June 6, 2019 at the Sanford Clear Lake Medical Center in Clear Lake at the age of 82.

She was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church where she was active in the WELCA, volunteered at Soup Day and taught Sunday school and Bible School. Marlys enjoyed cooking, baking, canning, reading, and doing cross word and search a word puzzles. She especially enjoyed her grandchildren.

Marlys is lovingly remembered by her husband Roger Wiesner, Clear Lake, SD; four children: Kathy (Alan) Elenkiwich, Brookings, SD, Kim (Tim) Ingalls, Sioux Falls, SD, Pam (Dave) Anderson, Sioux Falls, SD and Neil (Fay) Wiesner, Watertown, SD; nine grandchildren: Eric (Chelsey) Elenkiwich, Ross (Sara) Elenkiwich, Shawna (friend Tom Dolney) Elenkiwich, Rob (Jill) Ingalls, Sara (Justin) Shatto, Emily (friend Caden McDonnel) Anderson, Elliott Anderson, Brady Wiesner and Brittoney (Chris) Serie; eight great grandchildren: Miles, Olive and Ruby Elenkiwich, Shepard and Hannah Elenkiwich, Eleanor Shatto; and Alayah and Amerie Serie; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; five brothers and four sisters.
