Wanda Dastych, age 100, of Ivanhoe, MN passed away on Tuesday, September 24, 2019 at the Divine Providence Healthcare Center in Ivanhoe. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00am on Saturday, September 28th at the Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Ivanhoe. Visitation will be held one hour prior the service at the church. Wanda Lorraine Dastych was born in Canby, Minnesota on September 5, 1919 to Arthur and Sophie (Bing) Betts. She was a graduate of Canby High School. In 1939, while roller skating in Canby she met Stanley Dastych. Four years later on March 12, 1943 they were married in Pine Bluff Arkansas while he was serving in the military. Once Stanley was honorably discharged from the military they returned to Ivanhoe and started their family. They were blessed with Gerald “Butch”, Steve and Jill.

While raising her family, Wanda was a Cub Scout and 4-H leader. After her children were grown, she had a ceramic business, Paint 'n Place. Wanda was also a director for the Day Activity Center in Ruthton, MN.

She enjoyed playing cards and Polish paper cutting along with doing ceramics. Playing Rummikub with her family was a wonderful enjoyment for countless years even on her 100th birthday. She was a member of Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic Church where she was involved in various groups and women’s circles. She was also a member of the Jolly Mixers Square Dancing Club and various card clubs over the years. Wanda will be remembered for having a wonderful sense of humor. Wanda passed away on Tuesday, September 24, 2019 at the Divine Providence Healthcare Center in Ivanhoe at the age of 100 years and 19 days.

Grateful for having shared Wanda’s life are her two children: Butch (Katie) Dastych of Minneapolis, MN and Jill (Galen) Haaven of Almelund, MN; two grandsons: Luke (Daynelle) Haaven and Trevor (Robyn) Haaven; four great-grandchildren: Merissa, Diesel, Brynn and Blake Haaven; one daughter-in-law, Eileen Dastych of Loretto, Mexico and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one son, Steve; and a granddaughter, Dana Haaven.
